       My first impression of rattan weaving comes from a rattan chair in my childhood memories. Later, in the rapidly developing city, it has become increasingly difficult to find the figure of a rattan chair. People seem to no longer favor rattan furniture, feeling it is incompatible with the “modern life” environment.

        Mechanization has gradually replaced pure manual work, and the craft of rattan weaving is slowly disappearing. Designers hope to rekindle people’s love for this material through the redesign of rattan weaving.

    The Basket Chair reinterprets the form of a basket with a modern approach. Its shape is highly aesthetic, with a sharp contrast between the narrow waist and the spacious seat, and the open design envelops a cushion within. The internal structure of the product is made of a metal frame, providing strength and stability for the unique form. The double-layer surface is covered with hand-woven genuine rattan, a complex craft that requires a skilled craftsman to spend a week to complete. The bottom of the seat is fully padded with sponge, and the well-matched cushion nestles on the seat, creating a fusion of modern and traditional materials, making people feel very comfortable every time they sit down. The beige color of the rattan will deepen with use, which is a mark left by the years on the furniture.
